Being Young and Irish is the first in a series of Presidency seminars

These seminars will take place throughout the Michael D. Higgins Presidency.

Being Young and Irish begins with a consultation process with young people which takes place until the end of September. The information gathered throughout this consultation process will feed into a national seminar at Áras an Uachtaráin later in the year. Four regional workshops are part of this consultation.

President Higgins is now inviting applications from young Irish people aged 17 to 26 to take part in these regional workshops.

The workshops will take place in Dublin, Cork, Monaghan and Galway in September as follows:

  • DUBLIN, Saturday, 8 September
  • CORK, Saturday, 15 September
  • MONAGHAN, Saturday, 22 September
  • GALWAY, Saturday, 29 September

The workshops will explore young people’s ideas on three main questions:

  • What is your vision for Ireland?
  • What can you and other young people do to help achieve this Ireland?
  • What else needs to happen to make this possible?

To take part in the regional workshops young people must be available to attend on the date specified and must send their application to attend the workshop to Áras an Uachtaráin by 30th July. Online and printable applications forms are available at www.president.ie/regional-workshops
